Welcome to Stella Maris Canada
We respond to the spiritual and practical needs of seafarers who visit our ports.
We empower Stella Maris port chaplains and volunteers, and those who work with them at seaports across our country.
Our mission ensures the wellbeing and dignity of all seafarers, irrespective of nationality and creed.
We additionally provide for the spiritual needs unique to Catholic seafarers.

International Day of the Seafarer
The International Maritime Organization (IMO) established the International Day of the Seafarer on June 25th to recognize the significant impact of sea transport on our daily lives.
About Deacon Dileep
Deacon Dileep Athaide is the National Director for Stella Maris Canada as well as the Catholic Chaplaincy Coordinator for the Port of Vancouver. He has been providing pastoral care to seafarers ever since his ordination to the Permanent Diaconate in the Archdiocese of Vancouver in December 2015. Additionally, Dileep also serves as Parish Deacon at Sacred Heart Church in South Delta. He is a retired college professor (Geology and Adult Education) and former Labour leader.
